The impact of traditional and interactive post-editing on Machine Translation User Experience, quality, and productivity

چکیده
Abstract This paper presents a user study with 15 professional translators in the English-Spanish combination. We present concept of Machine Translation User Experience (MTUX) and compare effects traditional post-editing (TPE) interactive (IPE) on MTUX, translation quality productivity. Results suggest that prefer IPE to TPE because they are control interaction this new form translator-computer feel more empowered their Translation. Productivity results also may be an interesting alternative TPE, given fact worked faster even though had no experience machine modality, but were already used TPE.

The Impact of Machine Translation Quality on Human Post-editing
We investigate the effect of four different competitive machine translation systems on post-editor productivity and behaviour. The study involves four volunteers postediting automatic translations of news stories from English to German. We see significant difference in productivity due to the systems (about 20%), and even bigger variance between post-editors.
